Aegis is a late-game boss in Galactic Glitch, available in New Game Plus runs. This heavily armored defensive construct is designed to be nearly impenetrable, requiring players to master the game's mechanics to defeat it.

Overview[edit]

Aegis is the ultimate defensive boss - a massive shielded construct that represents the simulation's final conventional defense. Unlike aggressive bosses like Cerberus, Aegis focuses on outlasting the player through regenerating shields, damage reflection, and punishing counterattacks. Patience and precision are required.

Combat[edit]

Shield Mechanics[edit]

Aegis has a unique multi-layered shield system:

Shield Layer Color Properties How to Break
Outer Shell Blue Absorbs all damage Sustained DPS (breaks at threshold)
Reflector Field Yellow Reflects projectiles Use Grav Gun throws or melee
Core Barrier Red Regenerates over time Must break quickly before regen
Vulnerable None Core exposed! MAXIMUM DAMAGE

Attack Patterns[edit]

Attack Description How to Avoid
Shield Bash Charges with shields raised Dodge to the side, don't try to outdistance
Reflection Burst Returns all recent damage taken Stop shooting when shields turn yellow!
Drone Deploy Spawns shield drones that heal Aegis Prioritize destroying drones
Fortress Mode Becomes immobile, maximum defense + attacks Wait it out or use armor-piercing
Desperate Cannon Phase 4 only - massive beam attack Get behind cover immediately

Phases[edit]

Phase 1 (100% - 75% HP):

  • Learning phase - shield mechanics introduced
  • Slow attacks, generous vulnerability windows
  • One shield layer at a time

Phase 2 (75% - 50% HP):

  • Multiple shield layers active simultaneously
  • Drone Deploy begins
  • Shorter vulnerability windows

Phase 3 (50% - 25% HP):

  • Fortress Mode introduced
  • Shield regeneration speeds up
  • Reflection Burst becomes dangerous

Phase 4 (25% - 0% HP):

  • Desperate Cannon attack
  • All mechanics at maximum intensity
  • Shields regenerate almost instantly

Strategy[edit]

Recommended Loadout[edit]

Tips[edit]

  • STOP SHOOTING when shields turn yellow - you'll kill yourself
  • Drones are priority targets - Aegis heals faster than you can damage otherwise
  • Save your highest damage for vulnerability windows
  • During Fortress Mode, focus on dodging and killing drones
  • The Desperate Cannon has a long charge-up - use this time to deal damage
  • Backstabber and similar powers are less useful - Aegis always faces you

Shield Break Rotation[edit]

Optimal damage rotation:

  1. Sustained fire to break Outer Shell
  2. Switch to Grav Gun throws for Reflector
  3. Burst damage on Core Barrier before regen
  4. UNLOAD everything when vulnerable

Rewards[edit]

Reward Amount/Details
Boss Orb BO4 or higher (scales with NG+ level)
Credits ~1500+
Unlocks Higher NG+ content, rare Golden UPs

Lore[edit]

Aegis represents the simulation's "last stand" defense - a construct designed when all other guardians have failed. Serenity describes it as "the wall that was never meant to be climbed." Unlike other bosses that were created to destroy intruders, Aegis was built purely to endure until the simulation could reset.

Some theorize Aegis contains fragments of previous players who failed to escape - their energy repurposed into an eternal guardian.

Trivia[edit]

  • "Aegis" is Greek for "shield" - famously the shield of Zeus
  • Aegis has the highest total effective HP of any boss due to shields
  • Speed-runners consider Aegis the biggest run-killer
  • The Desperate Cannon attack was added after players found the boss "too passive"
