Backstabber is a positional damage Power in Galactic Glitch. It rewards players who maneuver behind enemies before attacking.

Overview[edit]

Backstabbing is a core mechanic in Galactic Glitch - attacks that hit enemies from behind deal bonus damage. The Backstabber power amplifies this bonus significantly, making positioning even more important. At Level 3, backstab attacks deal double their normal backstab damage.

Mechanics[edit]

What Counts as Backstab[edit]

  • Attacks hitting the rear 90° arc of an enemy
  • Works with all weapons and most damage sources
  • Grav Gun throws count if they hit from behind
  • Some Powers have backstab-specific interactions

Damage Calculation[edit]

Base backstab multiplier: 1.5x (50% bonus)

With Backstabber:

  • Level 1: 1.5x + 50% = 2.0x total
  • Level 2: 1.5x + 75% = 2.25x total
  • Level 3: 1.5x + 100% = 2.5x total

Strategy[edit]

Positioning Tips[edit]

  • Circle strafe - Move around enemies rather than backing away
  • Use the boost - Quick boosts can get you behind enemies
  • Attack during charges - Enemies that charge past you expose their backs
  • Grav Gun pulls - Grabbing enemies rotates them, exposing their back

Best Situations[edit]

  • Large, slow enemies (easy to circle)
  • Enemies that use charge attacks
  • Multi-enemy rooms (enemies face different directions)
  • Boss add phases

Synergies[edit]

Power Synergy Type Notes
Sidestabber Excellent Extends backstab zone to sides
Camouflage Great Undetected = enemies don't face you
Cloaking Device Great Same as Camouflage
Hurricane Good Dodge behind enemies, trigger Hurricane
Charged Shot Good Dodge to reposition, charged backstab

Prototype Synergy[edit]

  • Ravager - Has built-in backstab bonuses, stacks with this power
  • Shadow - Cloaking makes backstab positioning easier

Tips[edit]

  • Don't tunnel vision - Getting behind one enemy might expose your back to others
  • Prioritize positioning over DPS - A backstab is worth the setup time
  • Works on bosses - Most bosses have a "back" even if it's not obvious
  • Combine with stealth - Unaware enemies are easy backstab targets

Trivia[edit]

  • Backstabber is considered essential for the Ravager prototype
  • The power icon shows a dagger striking from behind
  • High-level play often involves "backstab chains" - circling through groups
