Quantum Orbs (QO) are the meta currency of Infinity's Edge. They take the place of normal orbs during an IE run.

How you get them

During an Infinity's Edge run, every orb you collect is added to your Quantum Orbs instead of your normal orbs. They count toward your total the moment you pick them up.

Orb sources in an IE run:

• Enemies drop orbs as usual. In Infinity's Edge, glitched enemies and mini-bosses drop no orbs.
• Glitched Challenge Rooms drop 16 orbs as their base amount when you clear them.
• Bosses drop their usual orbs, which become Quantum Orbs. The final boss of a depth drops no shards; no IE boss drops a Boss Orb.
• Other orb pickups also count as Quantum Orbs.

Depth multiplier

Orbs dropped by enemies, bosses and the Glitched Challenge Room are multiplied by the depth: x1.0 at depth 1, +0.25 per depth after that (x4.5 at depth 15). Orb bonuses from other sources apply before the depth multiplier.

The table shows the base amounts and the result at each depth, calculated from the base drop and the depth multiplier, with no other bonuses. A gauntlet adds up the drops of all its bosses.

Base orb drops of the bosses: The Behemoth and Glitched Behemoth 128, Heart of the Singularity and Glitched Singularity 256, Cerberus and Glitched Cerberus 512, The Dreadnought 256, Root of the Infection 128, Solara 1,024, Siren 1,024, Serenity 2,048.

What they buy

Quantum Orbs are spent on the upgrade tree in the IE Upgrade Room of The Hub. See Infinity's Edge Upgrades for all costs. The Reset IE Upgrades node refunds every Quantum Orb you spent there. If you cannot afford a node, the game shows "Not enough Quantum Orbs".
